Kemper Arena R. Crosby Kemper Memorial Arena, designed by C. F. Murphy and Associates of Chicago and completed in 1976, was remodeled and enlarged in 1999. Though the original design is largely intact, the addition of a wall of windows provides a focal point to the entrance.

The RLDS Temple in Independence, Missouri, designed by Hellmuth Obata & Kassabaum, Inc. and completed in late 1992, was photographed for the American Institute of Architects Guide to Kansas City Architecture & Public Art. Fabrication of the approximately 3,000 stainless steel panels to clad the roof and the vertical surfaces was done by A. Zahner Company

 Independence RLDS Church
BMA Tower Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and completed in 1963, the Business Men's Assurance Company building is perched on one of the highest points in Kansas City. Although less than 50 years old, BMA Tower was photographed for a successful National Register of Historic Places nomination.

The new Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics building on the campus of Kansas University was designed by ASIA Architecture of Kansas City and dedicated in July, 2003. The building features 28,000 square feet of exhibits, meeting rooms and broadcast facilities and cost $11 million to construct. (Yes, I do color, too.)

Commerce Tower Designed by Keene, Simpson and Murphy and completed in 1965, Commerce Tower in downtown Kansas City, MO illustrates the necessity of perspective control when photographing modern buildings. If vertical and horizontal lines are not represented as plumb and level it can reflect poorly on the architect as well as the photographer.

Designed by Welton Beckett of Los Angeles, California, and constructed in 1950-55, Hallmark Cards corporate office/industial complex in Kansas City, Missouri, presents several different modernistic themes. This view of the east facade was taken at high noon when the sunlight best defines the structure.

 Hallmark Home Office
Jewish Temple Local architects Clarence Kivett and Ralph Myers have been credited with bringing modern architecture to Kansas City. Their design for Temple B'nai Jehudah in Kansas City is undeniably modern architecture! This impressive 83-foot concrete "tent" was completed in 1969.

The Missouri Public Service building, designed by Kivett, Myers and McCallum and completed in 1958, features the unusual use of external mechanical louvers to assist in heating and cooling the building.
